Where can I find information on river kayaks?

I am looking for a Kayak to use on lakes and moving rivers with rocky bottoms. Not looking for White Water Kayaks, but something that can bounce off of river rocks.|||The best site for kayak information is the free paddlers website

http://www.paddling.net

There are sections on choosing a kayak to fit your size, experience level and the type of waters you want to paddle. The message board forums under the "community" tab are a great place to ask questions and there is a whole section with user reviews of hundreds of kayak models.

I have 7 kayaks and personally, for the kind of waters you are talking about I like to use a 12' to 15' long, 22" to 25" wide plastic touring style kayak with a keyhole cockpit. This style boat is faster than the short fat recreation style boats (the 9' or 10' ones with wide cockpits) and tracks straighter on lakes and rivers, but is still durable enough and maneuverable enough to negotiate a rocky stream and gravel bars. Avoid the flimsy cheapies like Future Beach and Field %26amp; Stream. They use thin plastic that will crack if hit too hard.

Buying a used kayak on Craigslist will get you a better bang for your buck (and you won't mind as much scraping a used kayak.) If you see one in an ad you can get info on it from the Paddling.net website.|||I don't know much about kayaks or the difference between different kinds of kayaks but here is a website that sells them (all I know are the ones that this site sells are recreational, fishing, or inflatable kayaks- I don't know if this is what you are looking for):

This website also has some articles that might be helpful:
