Are inflatable kayaks good for a 15 year old?

Hello im 15 and im wondering if a inflatable kayak is good for me to go paddle around the lake or the harbor|||Inflatable kayaks are primarily designed for people that do not have much storage room or need their boat to be compact for traveling purposes. While they paddle ok, I strongly feel that a rigid boat is a much better choice. No matter how skilled you are with your air pump it is difficult to get enough air in the chambers to make the inflatable rigid enough with out putting too much air in and blowing a hole in the boat.

Another thing to keep in mind is that if you are going to be kayaking with anyone else you want to get a kayak that is of similar build as your paddle buddy. If your buddy has a rigid plastic boat you may have difficulties keeping up with him/her in your inflatable.|||Inflatable kayaks are toys. They are great for a few hours of fun. You should consider learning how to kayak. Take some lessons or attend a school. Kayaking can be a 'lifetime' activity. Get to the library and read about kayaking.|||Yes absolutely an inflatable kayak would be good for you. Lots of people don't realize how incredibly sturdy many inflatable kayaks are these days. I've done a lot of paddling on both inflatables and hard-shell kayaks and I actually prefer an inflatable... mostly because they are far more convenient for transporting to the water. A $500 Sevylor would be a decent kayak.and should be great for you.
