Do you like the sit- on- top style kayaks or the sit in(cockpit) style kayaks?

The sit on tops are very versatile for small rivers, ocean, and warm weather fun. I have less experience with the sit-in types, but they seem to be great for warm and cooler weather - when you don't want to get real wet. Depending on the length and width, they can be more unstable in rough waters. Also, you need to learn to do that underwater flip in a sit-in type, where as a sit on top does not require this since they don't really flip.

So, it really depends on where and when you want to kayak. If I were just buying one, I'd go test them both out at a rental place - many have demo days.
