My hubby and I are finally buying our own kayaks this week. I have a roof rack on my crossover SUV, so I think we'll be able to find a method to secure them. But how do you keep them secure when traveling? We'll be taking them on a week-long trip this summer and staying in motels. Are there special locks or any other tips?|||you can buy a kayak rack that has a fold over clamp that you can put a lock on or if all else fails get a rack that just has tie downs and use a cable with a lock on it to lock it to the rack on the car.|||put a beware of owner cas she's armed sticker on it and i doubt anyone will touch it...%26gt;,%26lt;
but u can always us a chain or cable lock through the roof rack and through the kayaks......
u can buy the rack that locks but usually its kinda expensive and doesn't do any better than the cable...just slightly easier to use....
honestly i doubt any one will try to steal ur kayaks......but if u wanted u could also add some stickers to them to make them easy to spot if stolen......|||bicycle cable locks work. but the best i have seen are laptop computer cable locks. sounds silly i know but they are longer and have the little extra you need to find a hole to secure it in.
