What are some good websites to order kayaks from?

Bass Pro Shops is the only one I really know of and would like more of a selection! It would be for river and lake use only.

Also, what are some trusted names in the kayak industry? I want to get a decent one that will last for years to come!|||Brandon, I used to be an avid kayaker and kayak instructor. My advice with a kayak is not to order it online but from a retail store. (unless you have the expereince to know exactly what you want) It's kind of like buying shoes - fit and use are very important, so you want to get in it and talk to a knowledgeable salesperson about your needs and uses. If you feel the salesperson isn't knowledgeable, come back another time and talk to someone else. For general lake and river use, it sounds like you want a general purpose touring kayak or hybred boat, not a sea kayak or white water kayak. You'll probably have a choice between plastic and something more exotic like fiberglass, kevlar, etc. Generally speaking, plastic boats are cheaper and very durable, but heavier to carry and less performance oriented than glass boats, but again, talk to a knowledgeable salesperon in detail about your intended use.

University kayak and canoe clubs can be a great way to learn about kayaking, get some instruction and try out some different boats at a very low cost and maybe even pick up a good used beginner boat. If you want to take a course from some of the best in the world, check out Nantahala Outdoor Center in N.C. However, there are many other excellent kayak schools all over North America. If you will be doing any moving water or white water, I highly recommend getting some instruction before diving in.
